A New Day 11/08/2009

7:30 am

They’re on the road again in Edison, NJ. Chris has serious pain in is left knee. It actually made him lose time and miles yesterday. Due to the pain he is now mostly walking so they project their finish for sometime on Wednesday. Ronnie is definitely helping with massages and icing whenever they stop for hydration and food. Ryan and Aaron are off to check out the road ahead and restock their provisions.

Last night, somewhere in Newark when they stopped for a water break and to retape some toes, a woman approached them and said, “You boys don’t want to be here. You really shouldn’t stop. Keep moving, it’s not safe.” And pointing up the road she said, “Keep going, once you see the Dunkin Donuts you’ll be ok.”

After telling her why they were there and giving her one of their cards, hugs were exchanged all around and with a “God Bless you.” She went on her way and the guys made it safely out of the neighborhood.

Ok, my question is did I really want to hear that story last night at 10:00 pm?

So let’s not forget what this is all about. Wounded Warrior Project and a Veterans Bill of Rights.

As the sun sets. 11/07/2009

5pm, we have been going strong for near 7hrs.  One marathon underbelt.  The sun setting as we traverse the wilds known as Newark NJ.  Minor adversities have slowed us so far but spirits are high and we are finding a nice grove.  At least another 7hrs to go, but dad will not be denied.

I apologize for not getting any pictures or videos up today, hectic doesn't begin to describe life on the running road.  Hopefully tomorrow will find my mind nimble and ready to tackle suck arduous computorial tasks.  For now know that things are going well and dad just posted a 12 minute mile.

Chris and the crew are in Hoboken, NJ. The Running Man is doing great but the crew in the van are having trouble with the roads. Ryan has admittedly broken at least 10 traffic laws in the last 1/2 hour! They just met up again and will let us know more at their next pit stop.

First Post! 11/07/2009

He is on his way.  Running like the driven senile wackjob that he is.  We spent a cold blustery morning waiting outside of CBS studios and "The Early Show" for a bit that unfortunately didn't come.  We got bumped for some "Hoosier Mama's".  A little dissapointing.  However we got a shout out at the end of the program, and a few people called us to say that our signs were seen and very prominent in every outdoor segment.  I have some video and will be figuring out how to download and post it within the next few hrs.  Stay tuned and don't forget to Donate and Sign the petition.
